Following the clinical validation of the MicrosensDx RapiPrep® COVID-19 clinical diagnostic test, one of the lead researchers in the clinical study, Dr Claire Steves of Kings College London, was interviewed on Sky News. When asked about the benefits of the test, Dr Steves commented:
“So the great thing about this method that we’ve trialled is that it can be used actually at the point of care, so you could use it at a care home or a prison, or anywhere where a suspected outbreak is happening.
It doesn’t need technicians on the spot to run it: it’s a machine that can be used out in the field as has been developed before for tuberculosis and norovirus. This test can give a result in 30 minutes.
It’s a product which has been developed by MicrosensDx, which is a London [based] diagnostics company.”
